Qinghai Lake: Highest Road Cycling Race in the World

Cyclists will past through Stunning Scenery - Tour Qinghai Lake Official Photo

I will be headed to the Tibetean Plateau on Thursday where the highest road cycling race will be held. Qinghai Lakes Tour is a race that will feature some of the world’s top cyclists and they will be competing for some $300,000USD in prize money.  The event starts in Huzhou County with a 72km Criterium and concludes with a circuit race in Xining City 10 days later and almost 1300kms raced at an average altitude of 3000m! Knowing the Chinese, they will put on a grandiose event to showcase Qinghai and the rest of China to the world with stunning cultural performances and grand banquets.  The 147 riders plus team staff will be thoroughly entertained during the epic 10 days of racing.

Stay tuned for updates here and also on www.cyclingnewsasia.com. I am going as a representative for both Cycling News Asia and Champion System. I will bring you the racing reports and behind the scenes stuff.
